Where do i go to see galaxys and ect. with the naked eye?

mk, i know im asking alot but i want to find a spot were i can stargaze without a telescope and get the most out of it, like is there a certain place i can go other than an observetory to see galaxys and the milky way with the naked eye. maybe a high elevated area in the country? where can i go to get the most out of a nigt of star gazing? i just wanna lay in my truck bed and be able to get the most out of it, how do i do this and where do i go?
